Con questo tipo di tecnologia, tuttavia, i vantaggi sono limitati al taglio di materiali morbidi e\/o sottili come tessuto, cartone o gomma.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>La tecnologia a getto d'acqua abrasivo, invece, estende i vantaggi al taglio di materiali pi\u00f9 duri come metallo, legno e vetro, ceramica e pietra. Nella testa di taglio \u00e8 presente una valvola ad azionamento pneumatico che fa passare l'acqua attraverso un orifizio in una pietra preziosa di piccolissimo diametro, creando un flusso d'acqua supersonico.<\/p><p>Per dare un'idea della pressione dell'acqua, nei nostri rubinetti di casa la pressione \u00e8 di solito di 4 bar, in una macchina da taglio a getto d'acqua, la <strong>pressione \u00e8 solitamente compresa tra 4100 e 6500 bar<\/strong>. Maggiore \u00e8 la pressione, maggiore \u00e8 la velocit\u00e0 del flusso. A 4 bar, l'acqua del un rubinetto viaggia ad una velocit\u00e0 di 103 km\/h. Questa conversione avviene quando l\u2019acqua passa attraverso un piccolissimo orifizio realizzato in pietra preziosa.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>L\u2019orifizio nella pietra preziosa come lo zaffiro, rubino o diamante ha un foro compreso tra 0,08 e 0,5 mm.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>Per mantenere compatto il flusso del getto d\u2019acqua, il lato superiore dell\u2019orifizio deve avere un bordo molto affilato. Un bordo ruvido o arrotondato genera un getto indistinto e turbolento e potrebbe creare una traiettoria angolare inadatta. Gli orifizi in zaffiro e rubino possono durare da 40 a 200 ore, in base all\u2019applicazione e alla pressione, con acqua di buona qualit\u00e0.
